Greetings Camelot Family!
Welcome to the 2019-20 School Year! I hope you and yours are enjoying a wonderful summer. We are very excited about our plans for the upcoming year that include a 20/20-based school theme of “lenses.”
As you are aware, our pool party last night was rained out. We look forward to seeing everyone this coming Thursday for a nice chance to visit with familiar faces and welcome our newest members to the community.
New RSVP link is here:
Now that our offices have returned from Summer Break, we are in high gear getting ready for the new year. We are enjoying our last few weeks with our treasured colleague, Amanda Fox, before she departs for a position at a local charter school. We are excited about this opportunity for Amanda to complete her professional licensure and share her teaching talents with the world. We know Amanda will remain a part of our community going forward and we are counting on it! Ms. Amanda will be leading the remaining three weeks of our Edu Ventures programs, so sign up to join us for LEGO, Astronomy or Farm Fun!
We are thrilled to welcome Anna Buchanan to the MAPP teaching team. Anna is moving here from her home in Juneau, Alaska, where she has been teaching since returning from a five-year sojourn overseas to teach in Kuwait and Myanmar. Ms. Nicole and I have much joy in anticipation of the great year ahead with Ms. Anna joining our Camelot Family.
Please be sure to have students come in to take their Summer Accelerated Reader (AR) tests any weekday between 8 AM and 5 PM. In order to pace things evenly, students should be at least halfway done with their summer assignments at this time.
The Online School Calendar is being populated with the details of the upcoming school year. The link is here: https://www.camelotacademy.org/calendar/
Parent Orientation – Monday, August 26
We have a completely new format that includes food, social time and small group sessions.
Please read the details and sign up for your preference here:
Finally, our annual alumni event – dubbed “Get Ducks Day” is Saturday, July 27.
“Get Ducks” celebrates the daring spirit it takes to pursue one’s dreams.
We are pleased to feature a unique offering and invite Camelot parents and students age 16 and older (mature themes/language) to join us. Director of Admissions, Mr. Scott, will “get ducks” and present Driving, a script he has worked on for the last 20 years. The play chronicles father-son relationships through conversations taking place in a 1987 Lincoln Continental and stars… Mr. Scott! It is based on some of Mr. Scott’s real-life experiences as a cab driver and chauffeur in New York City.
For mature audiences only. Tickets are $10 and will be sold at the door.
WHEN: July 26 and 27 at 7:00 PM
WHERE: Walltown Theater - 1225 Berkeley Dr. In Durham
Thanks for tuning in to all of these details. I hope to see you at the pool on Thursday night!
