It was an eventful week with everything from the Cross Country meet (we placed first!) to the fun of costumes. Many thanks to everyone on staff who ran things beautifully in my absences being with my mom.

Lots of announcements this week!

Our bird watching walk with Mr. Thomas has been postponed - the new date is Saturday, November 16 at 8 AM.  Please sign up here:

From students Anna Bailey and Mattie Ramont:

Spirit Week is this week! Staff and students are encouraged to show their school spirit and participate. The days are:

Monday: Pajama Day

Tuesday: Twin/Triplet Day

Wednesday: Wacky Tacky Day

Thursday: Throwback Day

Friday: Camelot Day

From Senior Heather Hartman:

Socktober has been going on for the past few weeks and will continue until Academic Fair. Socktober is a sock drive with collections donated to Urban Ministries for use during the winter months. This is a wonderful tradition and a great way to support our community and be part of a fun competition. Each homeroom has a collection box and at Academic Fair we will announce the homeroom that collected the most new (in package) socks to win the prize of donuts! Keep bringing in socks!

Message from student Natalie Bailey:

We are currently running a Candy Drive at school and would really appreciate your participation! Halloween Candy Buy Back is an organization that collects donated sweets and returns $1 for every pound. The candy is sent to troops overseas, and the money is being donated to hurricane relief. Beverly Thurmond Orthodontics, a partner of Halloween Candy Buy Back, has agreed to accept our candy and donate the money directly to the charity. If there is any candy you may have that you are willing to donate, please send it to school and we will collect it. Your contribution will be of immense help to this important cause!

The RoboKnights have partnered with Chipotle to raise funds for the team, and are having a fundraiser with them on November 13th. These funds go to our overall budget as well as our scholarship program for team members. To participate in this fundraiser,

bring this flyer ( )

to show to the cashier when you check out. Otherwise, the proceeds will not go to the team. The address for Chipotle is 2608 Erwin Rd, Durham, NC 27705. We hope to see you all there on November 13th! Thanks again!

Finally, your notes of support and compassion are treasures to me and my family.  My mom remains hospitalized and I am trying to be with her as much as possible as she is unable to communicate her needs.  I anticipate going back and forth between school and the hospital during the coming days. I have become very adept at getting work done on a hospital table, but I look forward to more time this week with the beloved children and adults of Camelot!
