Thank you for participating in Parent Night. It was nice to “see” so many of you and to share our plans for the year. Our teachers pour themselves into these opportunities to collaborate with you – I trust their care and dedication was palpable.
A few follow up items:
- Upper School English Meet and Greet is this Tuesday at 7:30 PM. Please come to learn more about these classes, including the IR (Independent Reading) program and the big Academic Fair research papers that are underway.
Meeting ID: 965 352 8215 Passcode: mw68sq
- The Upper School history syllabi links for Mr. Bruce are now working and can be found on the Upper School Parent Night slide deck:
- ALL PARENTS - The survey being run by Mr. Thomas to collect your thoughts on Outdoor Education is HERE:
- BEHIND THE SCENES:
I’m not kidding you – spontaneous student dance is happening! Although I egged it on with a group of 8th graders at lunch one day, later that day I stumbled into Middle Graders very much in the midst of their own group dance! The good humor is a sweet touch – I feel fortunate to spend my days with these precious moments.
This week all grade levels begin/continue the transition to indoor classrooms. Most students will spend 1-2 hours a day inside this week.
You will soon receive an email from Jill Pitino with your family conference time and Zoom link. (Amazing job, Ms. Jill!) Students in grades 5 and up are key participants in these meetings and are required to attend, so please work out the logistics in advance if family members will be connecting from different locations. As you can note from our time spent at Parent Night and in the upcoming days of Family Conferences, we put our time where our values are – and “Parents as Partners” is one of our Core Values. Thank you for bringing your thoughts and perspective to our work together, to ensure a maximally positive and productive experience for your student.
Message from National Honor Society:
Hello Camelot students and families! We have two main projects to announce.
First, as I’m sure you’ve noticed, we’ve started advertising a community service event: Socktober! All you have to do to participate is bring new, unused socks to school and put them on the porch in the box labelled 'Socktober'. Of course, anything helps, so if you'd like to donate toothbrushes, paper towels, hair combs, or any other commonly donated item to homeless shelters, we would gladly accept. We on the National Honor Society hope that you have a great October, and happy donating!
Additionally, we have now also added community service forms to the tack-board outside of the front door. This would be a great place to put your hours from Socktober!
Our soccer team had two games this week. On Wednesday they played Fletcher Academy and on Friday they played Hawbridge Academy. Although both these games were lost, Coach Carlos felt the team learned a great deal. We look forward to rematches this week!
Our Cross Country team hosts a meet this Thursday at 4:30 PM at Forest Hills Park!
Our two positive COVID tests from October 1 both turned out to be false positives! Thanks to the families involved for their patience in working through the process and for helping us put in place good protocols going forward. This week (October 8) we have NO POSITIVE cases as of now, one test is still processing, and results awaiting from several who were absent. As always, I’ll update you if there is a substantive change in this info. Reminder - parking lot screening tomorrow (Monday)!
Thank you for your time and care. I hope you have a great week.
