Greetings and Happy New Year!

I hope your family had a nice Winter Break with time for reflection, refueling and reimagining.

Congratulations to these members of our Class of ‘24 on their recent college acceptances.  Our little school continues to have a big reach as some of these applications reflect not only academic excellence but also honing of artistic portfolios and/or artistic auditions.

Behind the scenes:

The last school day of 2023 (Friday, December 15) was an especially sweet-feeling one.  Students K-12, clad in PJ’s, enjoyed the day with celebrations, food, gifts and Upper Schoolers partaking in the final launches of the trebuchets built by the physics class over the last several weeks. Special thanks to our families for the cards and other tokens of appreciation shared with our team - it was greatly appreciated.

Remind:

Classes resume on Wednesday of this week (January 3rd).

Our offices will be open on Tuesday, January 2nd.

The Service and Leadership Club meets on Friday mornings at 8 AM upstairs in the Cafe. Students in Grades 7 to 12 are welcome to join. Students interested in joining Camelot’s chapter of the National Honor Society (Grades 10-12) may apply and submit an application on the NHS Google Classroom (code qim56bf).  Students interested in either club are invited to attend the meeting this Friday (January 5th) to learn more.

Contact Ms. Bev (beverly@camelotacademy.org) for more information about either opportunity.

CLUB STATUS:

Dungeons and Dragons and Creativity Club have concluded for Semester One.

Gardening, Battle of the Books, Apiary and Model UN continue through January.

A new slate of clubs will launch in February.

Announce:

In the event that inclement winter weather occurs in the coming weeks you will receive an email announcement about any delays or closings.  We do NOT follow the decisions of Durham Public Schools but always encourage families to make attendance decisions based on road conditions in their area.  Our Camelot Family commutes from multiple counties in all directions.

Wellness Update:

As we return from places near and far we will continue to work together to prevent the spread of illnesses.  Please be vigilant in keeping students home if they have any symptoms of illness in the past 24+ hours.

I hope you have a great first week of 2024!  It is an honor to share the journey with you.

Best,

Thelma
