Weekly Update for 05/18/2025
Sunday, May 18, 2025
Greetings!
Welcome to the last week of the 2024-25 school year. We have much to celebrate together before welcoming summer!
Last week had many highlights including MAPP Science exploration days that produced everything from smoke to slime. Middle Grades students were immersed in graduation prep from poems to props. Purple Schedule students took their puppetry show on the road to rave reviews. Civics students were out in the community interviewing unhoused citizens and international college students. Environmental Science students took an overnight trip to Wilmington - a trip largely planned by the students. Those bees at the farm have nothing on us back on campus - we know how to BUZZ with activity!
BEHIND THE SCENES - STAFF NEWS:
As you know, our teachers are an amazing group of educators and each one contributes something unique and lasting to our school. No member is ever replaced, but as life journeys evolve we are grateful for the legacy of each and inspired by the possibilities new teammates bring. This season we celebrate a decade of wonderful collaboration with Ms. Nicole. After many years of the long commute from Harnett County things have aligned for her to teach at a school five minutes from her home next year. Since she and her family will forever be part of our Camelot Family, we are exploring her continuation with Camelot with some Summer ‘26 offerings - stay tuned. Meanwhile, Ms. Clare will begin her Masters in Social Work program at Bryn Mawr in the fall. We are deeply appreciative of her contributions to the MAPP team and proud to help launch her to the next step in her professional journey. Meanwhile, we are excited to welcome two newly-hired accomplished educators to the MAPP Team in the fall. We’ll all be working together this summer at which time we’ll determine classroom configurations for the new year. Much more on all of that to come.
Meanwhile, I met with each senior last week for our final 1:1 time together. As they polished their graduation speeches and practiced their delivery I was keenly aware of how much we will miss them and how proud we are to send them off to their young adult lives. I look forward to sharing their stories with you on Friday night.
