Greetings!

I hope this email finds you enjoying the long weekend and the beautiful weather to match.

We were graced with just such perfect weather for student orientation and that added a remarkable backdrop to the great work of our team and our students in accomplishing our goals for the opening days. Heartfelt thanks to the many families who contributed to the Fuel the Faculty food drop off.  It was delightful to discover new and thoughtful goodies delivered every few hours and it made the days feel festive.

BEHIND THE SCENES:

Listening, Listening…..the theme of my orientation days.  It was my pleasure to meet in small groups with every student in the school this week.  I sought student input as to what would make the year wonderful for them.  Their voices are in my head as I spend the weekend sorting through Upper School elective surveys and the notes students wrote for me there.  It is an exhilarating challenge to strive to Deliver and Collaborate with these young people.

I am filled with gratitude to do this important work with our exemplary Teaching Team. We are now turning our attention to the weeks to come.  We will begin a period of review with our students before administering informal assessments to help inform their learning plan for the year.  This is a time of trying out different ideas in order to determine the best way to accomplish our goals.  This process is quite a unique aspect of our school and one that really allows teachers to practice their craft at the highest level.

Message from Raleigh Gardiner – MG/US Teacher

We are planning some new movement electives for Upper School students this year and are reaching out to parents/guardians to see if anyone might be interested in sharing their skills with us or joining us on a hike! We are looking for individuals who have experience in yoga, Pilates, tai chi, dance, tennis, Frisbee, volleyball, hiking or other movement-based activity, who could volunteer their time to lead or assist during a class.

All classes would occur on Mondays, with 1 hr sessions running from 10:30- 11:30 am, and 2 hr sessions from 1-3 pm. 1hr sessions would take place at Camelot Campus, and our 2 hr sessions could take place either at Camelot or another close by location. All classes would be accompanied by at least one Camelot teacher (Ms. Raleigh). Hikes are scheduled for the 2hr sessions only (between 1-3pm).
