Weekly Update for 09/14/2025
Sunday, September 14, 2025
Greetings!
Last week was chock-full of wonderful moments. I find myself filled with gratitude for days shared with students and colleagues who are truly appreciative of the opportunities and experiences we share with each other. Every class in the school traveled to our farm last week and the experiences ranged from leaf rubbings to star watching. Amy Cummings did an amazing job coordinating Upper School Patriot Day service events and Thomas, Katie and Krista offered great team building activities. Our soccer team played their first game of the season and although the score was not a win, the enthusiasm and camaraderie was a triumph. Kudos to Coach Scott for setting the tone and to Logan for all of the administrative support.
BEHIND THE SCENES:
We are preparing to welcome parents to campus on Friday afternoon for Parent Night. Our goal is to give you a glimpse of the “magic” that often happens in our midst. I appreciate that our faculty continues to collaborate to find the best means to accomplish a lot with so little time. Please be sure to read the material provided in addition to partaking in the live experience to realize maximum value. We will welcome your feedback on this and the entire opening sequence in the Faculty Retreat Feedback Form I will share next weekend.
REMIND:
Schedule for this Friday, Sept 19 - Parent Night
Nature Start/Kinder - parents meet at the FARM at 1:50 PM.
On campus dismissal for all per regular schedule.
We anticipate MAPP students departing with their parents at 3:45 PM, after the Parent event.
On Campus Parent Events*
Grades 1-5 Parent Event 3-3:45 PM
Grades 6-7 - Parent Event 4-4:45 PM
Purple Upper School Parent Event 4-4:45 PM (same time as Grades 6-7)
Gold Upper School Parent Event 5- 5:45 PM
*Due to limited space in the classrooms, any students remaining on campus will be supervised outside. Please note that we cannot accommodate non-Camelot siblings on this day.
Class of 2026 students have a series of instructions to follow in the College Guidance Google Classroom following up on our meeting last week. Reminder that Monday (tomorrow) is the deadline for many of these tasks. Instructor Matt Wilhelm has rejoined our Team to assist with this process, in addition to offering several Upper School elective classes.
ANNOUNCE:
Parking for Parent Night will be on surrounding streets and a bit challenging during the 3 PM session when both our Upper School and the neighboring public school are still in session. Please allow time to park a few blocks away and walk. The parking lot will service dismissal times as usual although we anticipate most MAPP students being on campus and outside while their parents attend the 3 PM session.
Middle Grades and Upper School families who live close enough to transport students home at their regular dismissal time before their events (4 PM for 6th,7th and Purple Schedule - and 5 PM for Gold Schedule) are encouraged to do so. The decreased need for student supervision over the course of the afternoon would be much appreciated as our Team will be covering bases both inside and outside.
Parent Service Opportunity:
Job Shadows - Parent Assistance Needed!
Camelot is looking for job shadow opportunities for our Upper School students during the week of Family Conferences (Oct. 13-17, 2025). They are typically a couple of hours to a half day in length. If you are able to offer such an experience to our students, please complete this Google Form to provide more information. (An important note: Hosting a job shadow counts towards Parent Service hours!)
I look forward to seeing you on Friday afternoon!
Best,
Thelma
