Greetings!

We had a full and productive week putting into practice much of the outcome of our Retreat work. We were grateful that the rainy start gave way to autumn sunshine.

BEHIND THE SCENES:

A highlight of my weeks is my meetings with every student in the school - conducted in small groups - Kinder, Jr MAPP, Sr MAPP, Middle Grades, Purple and Gold.  Each meeting is unique to both the students and the  moment in time.  This week, Jr MAPP had a lot to connect about on the theme of COMMUNICATION and the contributions of the late Jane Goodall. Meanwhile, the Purple Group and I talked about some of their Retreat Feedback, especially surrounding details of our math instruction.  Gold Students signed up for jobs identified at Retreat to enhance our community.  Perhaps my favorite thing that came out of that was the pairing of a senior with a second grader for some daily math work.  In general, the seniors are very involved as both classroom assistants and math graders.  It is inspiring to see how joyful they are about this part of their days and their contributions are invaluable…I am secretly working to persuade them to consider careers in education!
