Weekly Update for 10/19/2025
Sunday, October 19, 2025
Greetings!
Thank you for your thoughtful participation in Family Conferences last week. We accomplished much metaphorical “sharpening of the pencils” in our planning for each of our students. I found myself listening with much admiration to the creativity abounding in our classrooms - from our most advanced students’ efforts to write a math text in Mr. Irfan’s course titled “The Language of Nature,” to Ms. Lori’s nick-named offering of “Tea and Tuberculosis” the Upper School students exuded great enthusiasm for their studies. Kudos to Amy C for taking on the job of coordinating all of these conferences on behalf of the Upper School team.
Thank you to the many parents who offered Job Shadow opportunities last week. Many Gold students came to their conference excited to share about their experiences. We send much appreciation to Ms. Charlotte and Amy S for all of the orchestration of details.
BEHIND THE SCENES:
Even with no classes last Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday things stayed interesting. Teacher Michelle became quite ill Monday mid-morning requiring a quick change in conference plans. Kudos to Ms. Bev who ran some of the Middle Grades conferences solo! Michelle will be in touch this week to reschedule conferences that were missed.
Fortunately, Michelle recuperated quickly and so her day-long Saturday Middle Grades trip to Charlottesville, VA took place as scheduled yesterday. Such excursions with teachers and friends are among the highlights of life at Camelot. From Monticello to tavern dining many special memories were made. Thanks to Mr. Scott for joining the fun to help chaperone.
This week’s plans include a JR MAPP outing to SEEDS on Tuesday, a Purple Schedule outing to the theater to see a performance of The Giver on Wednesday and a Middle Grades trip to Dix Park on Friday.
