Weekly Update for 01/11/2026
Sunday, January 11, 2026
Greetings!
Congratulations to Senior Alex Bray on his acceptance to the University of Alabama.
BEHIND THE SCENES:
On campus there was a strong sense of gladness to reconnect and to get back to routines - albeit with absences due to illness still creating an impact among staff and students. Sr. MAPP students spent their recess time this week creating their own “designed” nature space behind the playground, complete with a formal unveiling on Friday with invites to staff! On Friday I was also invited to see a sampling of Biology class projects on chromosomal abnormalities. Ms. Lori has good reason to be proud of student research and presentation skills. Mr. Reed’s Physics students exceeded expectations with the range of their trebuchet projects - requiring him to research the points of greatest distance on our property! This week I also had two different teachers come to me to remark about two different colleagues and how incredible their work is. We are very fortunate not only to have such a talented teaching team, but to have the strong camaraderie among them.
REMIND:
Fall Clubs have wrapped up with the following exceptions of meetings this week:
- Battle of the Books continues each Monday on a unique schedule geared to upcoming competitions
- Monday Art Club has a make-up session
- D&D has a make-up session this Tuesday
- Thursday Lego Club has a make-up session (and another Thursday Jan 22)
Upper School first semester exams are this week!
Wednesday - Spanish, Latin and ELL Exams.
- All Gold students taking a language exam need to arrive by 8:30 on Wednesday
Thursday - Math Exams.
All Gold students taking a math exam need to arrive by 8:30 on Thursday
Gold students who do NOT have a Language or Math class should arrive at 12:15 on the respective exam days for afternoon classes.
Exam Review Sheets were sent home last week and should guide the study process.
A Reminder to ALL Families
– School is closed this Friday for a Teacher Work Day. (Note: we are also closed on Monday for MLK Jr Day)
Finally, Summer Program Offerings will be posted next weekend!!! We can’t wait to share all we have planned!
ANNOUNCE:
A last minute Parent Service vacancy has occurred. Ms. Raleigh is seeking a parent to accompany her MONDAY (tomorrow) Upper School Movement Class on a hiking trip to Occoneechee Speedway (Hillsborough) from 1-3 PM. Please email Raleigh@camelotacademy.org to make arrangements.
We have several dozen of our Camelot Farm organic, free-range eggs for sale ($7/dozen). Please email me if you are interested.
On Saturday, February 7 (10 AM- Noon) we have an Open House. Please invite friends and neighbors to learn more about our school. Also, if your student is moving up to a new division (MAPP, Middle Grades or Upper School) this is the perfect opportunity to meet teachers and learn about our programming.
Wellness Update:
Flu A was well represented in the Upper School this past week. Thank you to the many families who communicated with us closely about symptoms and plans for return to school.
I hope you have a great week!
Best,
Thelma
