Weekly Update for 03/22/2026
Sunday, March 22, 2026
Greetings!
WOW! Last week was big!
Our students did everything from interviewing Durham’s Mayor at City Hall to presenting MAPP Academic Fair projects. They were on canoes at Falls Lake and climbing mountains outside of Asheville. On Tuesday night we went to “24-hour-mode” when some of the juniors and seniors had a sleepover in the building. Kudos to Team Camelot for the visioning and the “round-the-clock” care that goes into making this magic happen.
BEHIND THE SCENES:
Kudos to MAPP Team - Academic Fair extraordinaire- Leah, Anna, Rachel, Eric, Madeline and Scott
Kudos to Operation Asheville - Thomas and Bev
Kudos to Operation Falls Lake and Camelot Sleepover- Irfan, Amy and Lori
Kudos to “Camelot Goes to the State and City Government”- Matt
Kudos to the rest of Team Camelot for flexibility in covering bases…EVERYONE!!
REMIND:
MONDAY - RESCHEDULED: All levels of Battle Of the Books will have a final celebration THIS Monday, March 23, after school from 3:30-4:30. Student will play games, recommend books for future years, and take a yearbook picture, so all should wear their yellow shirts. Students are encouraged to bring a food to share that is somehow related to one of the books.
Tuesday-Thursday - ERB testing
WHAT ARE THESE TESTS AND WHY DO WE GIVE THEM?
The State of NC requires all private schools to give a nationally-normed test. Camelot uses the ERB because it provides the option of private school norms, which can be helpful in providing enough “ceiling” to give worthwhile info for many of our students. We are attuned to keeping the atmosphere of this testing focused, but not stressful.
Many thanks to Lori Hilliard who coordinates this on behalf of our school.
-Testing is all morning for Grades 2-10 (please avoid late arrivals and leaving for appointments).
-Please do not send sick students to school for testing. They will not do their best and may create a distraction for others. We will schedule make-up testing as needed.
-Nature Start and 1st graders will be on field trips
-11th and 12th graders will be at Yates for a combination of math, ACT test prep, and essay writing. Some seniors will be excused from the morning requirements (details provided to them tomorrow).
ALL STUDENTS, OF ALL GRADE LEVELS, MUST ARRIVE BY 8:45 ON TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY!!!!
Wednesday - Thursday - Net Sports Club begins after school
Friday - Mid-Semester Warning acknowledgment email (if applicable) due to Logan.
Friday - No school for students
ANNOUNCE:
Monday - FARM STAND- We sold out last week so we will be back with tulips, honey, and eggs at pick up time
Tuesday - Everyone should dress to sit outside for the Talent Show - (high of 56 degrees).
Summer highlight!
